We recently recieved a call that a home owner of a large custom home fealt his hot water system was excessively costly and could we review his system  and make some recommendations.  We found two large, 75 gallon electric water heaters, each w/ continuous run re-circulation pumps pulling two loops each. The 1st floor heater served the kitchen, laundry, and master bedroom. While the second floor heater served three bathrooms.

  We ended up replacing this, by installing two Rinnai tankless heaters manifolded together and plumbing both hot feeds back to them. We then installed two Metlund “on demand” re-circ. pumps which are only triggered by motion sensors, when there would be potential water useage from people being present. Thus no re-circulation and hot water used to heat the loops when no one is home.

   We recently were informed that the customer has seen tremendous saving in his electric bill this last month over the same month last year. Even after subtracting the slight increase in his gas bill, the net savings last month alone was $375.00!  This will equate to a $4,500.00 savings annually!   Needless to say, this customer is very pleased w/ his water system upgrade.
